TEHRAN (NIORDC) __ The decision has been made to construct the 4th phase of the Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate Refinery-also known as the Persian Gulf Star Refinery- to add 120,000 barrel/day to the plant"s processing capacity.
Currently, two phases of the plant are operational and the third phase is about to be launched in the near future. The installed capacity of each phase of the facility is 120,000 b/d of gas condensates.
Construction of the 4th phase of the plant, touted as the world"s largest gas condensate refining plant, has begun by domestic experts and labor.
The phase is being developed for production of Euro-5 petrol and gasoil. It is mainly fed by gas condensates that is recovered from various phases of the supergiant South Pars gas field.
Once the refinery operates at full tilt, Iran will have no spare condensate output for exports. South Korea is the biggest buyer of the item from Iran.
