Commercial Directorate

Commercial directorate started to work in August 1998. The main responsibility of this directorate is to identify, inspect and evaluate domestic manufacturers’ capabilities in order to achieve self-sufficiency in goods procurement, different industries technology transfer, and consequently foreign exchange saving and introducing these manufacturers to operational units affiliated to the commercial directorate. Moreover, for ensuring continuity of production operations and timely implementation of projects, this directorate supervises orders and foreign purchases to ensure timely supplies and when necessary taking steps on large scale foreign purchases decided by The Board of Directors.

The directorate organizes, defines and communicates the operational policy guide lines (within the framework of the decisions made by The Board of Directors and General Assembly) and supervises the coordinated commercial systems, classification of goods and standards to ensure needed improvements within the directorate’s divisions.

The Commercial Directorate also establishes comprehensive systems of statistics and information of the procurement department, inventory control, and activities on securing financial supplies for the current orders and projects, solving the problems of foreign exchange allocation and opening the letters of credit for foreign purchases in the area of the directorate activities.

In the section of manufacturing and supplying goods, The Commercial Directorate takes these four measures:

- Chemicals used in refining

- Mechanical instruments and machinery

- Electrical, telecommunications and precise instruments

- Industrial research and technology transfer
