Iran Petrol Output, Consumption Equal in H1
TEHRAN, Dec. 24 (NIORDC) — Irans production and consumption of gasoline have been equal in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21, National Iranian Oil Refining & Distribution Company (NIORDC) says.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, NIORDC Managing Director Alireza Sadighabadi said the country consumes an average of 78 million liters/day of the item while production stands at 75 ml/d on average which means domestic production can nearly cover the demand in the country.
Sadighabadi, who was addressing his first press conference ever since he was appointed at NIORDC chairman in October, said consumption of gasoline in H1 is always more than that in H2.
However, he added, this does not mean that the country is needless of importing petrol yet given the fact that in many instances refineries are put out or service for various reasons including overhaul operations.
"Gas import can only end once Iran starts exporting the item which mean production must reach at least 10% higher than domestic consumption," he noted.
The NIORDC chief further added that inauguration of phase II of the Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate Refinery will bring Irans petrol production to a stable state.
He said Arak, Tabriz, Isfahan and Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate refineries are producers of Euro-4 gasoline in Iran, adding the facilities supply an average of 41ml/d of the item of which 23 ml/d is being distributed in major cities.
Iran currently has the capacity of supplying 32 ml/d of Euro-4 gasoil which is produced at Tehran, Arak, Isfahan, Lavan and Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate refineries, he added
