Deputy Oil Minister and CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Abbas Kazemi speaking with Shana announced that the consumption of gasoline increased by one percent during the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year compared to the same period in the last year while the number of cars was increased by eight percent during the same period.
He added that the one percent growth shows the reduction of gasoline consumption in the country.
Pointed to the negative balance of the gasoline smuggling in the borders,he added that the single rate for fuel and reasonable price has been resulted in controlling gasoline smuggling, reducing of consumption and transparency.
In reaction to the possibility of returning the approval regarding petrol to Iranian parliament (Majlis) for reviewing which was intimated by the Oil Minister in recent days, he dubbed the said measure as positive and noted that two rates for gasoline has not been proposed by the government, the said approval was approved during the last days of the former Iranian parliament (Majlis) and its implementation might be faced with the problems due to the current conditions of consumption and single rate of the gasoline.
He reiterated that supplying gasoline with the single rate would result in transparency in financial settlement and two rates would result in corruption.
The head of NIORDC expressed hope that the said approval would be reviewed by the Iranian parliament (Majlis) and MPs would take the decision by considering the positive results of single rate for gasoline.
