TEHRAN (NIORDC) __ Iran"s petrol production capacity has reached 93 million liters per day, 50 percent higher than the average production capacity of last calendar year"s first half.
Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Refining & Distribution Company (NIORDC) Alireza Sadighabadi said the county had witnessed an eye-catching leap in production of petrol, adding Iranian refineries supplied 63 ml/d in the first half of the previous calendar year (ended on March 20) while they were currently supplying over 93 ml/d.
He said in the fourth quarter of the previous calendar year, petrol production stood at 78 ml/d as the first phase of Persian Gulf Star Gas Condensate Refinery, also known as Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate Refinery, became operational.
"Currently, all Iranian refineries are operating at full tilt and production has reached 93 ml/d," he added.
The official said the outcome is nearly tantamount to consumption level in the country, meaning Iran has become almost self-sufficient in production of petrol.
